CONTACT US NOWOn March 19th, the Chinese Glory Continental Cycling Team participated in the UCI 1.2 one-day race - Istrian Grand Prix in Izola, a coastal town in Slovenia. The six-man lineup sent by Glory team consisted of Lu Xianjing, Xu Changquan, Shen Yutao, Lucas Derossi, Julian Trarieux, and Willy Schmidt. After more than two months of training and adjustment, the team members showed a good spirit on the race track. French rider Julian Trarieux participated in the final sprint of the leading group and achieved a good result, finishing seventh.
The race route consisted of 4 large laps and 3 small laps, with a total length of 156.5 km. The terrain was undulating, the roads were narrow, and there were many sharp turns.
The team gathered in Slovenia on the 17th, March and had pre-race adaptation training on the 18th.
The team members rode Pardus Robin Evo and Spark Evo for the race.
The sports director Leonardo deployed the team to maintain a favorable position in the race, and protect the team's sprinter Julian during the final sprint to compete for a better ranking.
Xu Changquan is preparing for the race.
Shortly after the start of the race, riders dropped out one after another at the climbing point, but team Glory followed the leading group closely and steadily occupied the middle position in the 1st lap. Today's climbing section was a test for Xu Changquan, who gradually fell behind the leading group in the 2nd lap and struggled to catch up with about 20 others, but unfortunately failed to catch up before the city circuit and did not finish the race.
Derossi actively attacked in the city circuit phase and appeared on the live broadcast several times. He and Lu Xianjing crossed the finish line steadily.
Shen Yutao fell behind at one point, but returned to the main group midway and finished the race with Schmidt through strong willpower.
Julian Trarieux collided with another rider and crashed in the last part of the 3rd lap, which somewhat affected his rhythm. However, he made it back to his position before and achieved a good result of 7th place in the group sprint.
Trarieux's top 10 finish marked a good start for the team's European debut this season.
In the results, 3 Glory riders crossed the finish line with the first group, and Schmidt and Shen Yutao finished successfully. The 3 Chinese riders were praised by the sports director for their performance at the beginning of the season, and they are expected to continue to work hard in training and competition to improve themselves and face even more challenging competitions. Glory will also participate in 2 more one-day races on the 23rd and 26th. Stay tuned.
